Excel Guyana is pleased to announce that it has earned Integrated Management Systems (IMS) Certification from SGS through the certification of the company’s activities to the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System, the ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management System, and the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems.

Adopting an Integrated Management System within Excel Guyana Inc. has allowed the company to eliminate duplication by having a single Management System that addresses the requirements of three International Standards. This is evident within the company’s stringent documented information including the IMS Manual, Policy, Operations Procedures, Work Instructions, and Documented Databases and Records. For example, the organization implemented essential systems that focus on the Identification, Control, and Management of Safety Hazards & Risks, Environmental Aspects, and Organizational Risks & Opportunities.

Excel’s ISO Journey
The road to certification was rigorous starting with an extensive review of Excel’s organizational context, leadership, planning, support, operation, performance evaluation, and improvement. These were analyzed using the process approach of identifying all inputs, resources, documents, activities, and outputs. By analyzing the process, Excel is able to better monitor and measure effectiveness, efficiency, and improvement.
From the review conducted, Excel embarked on the documentation of its quality control policies, quality objectives, scope statement, procedures, work instructions, forms, and process maps. All of which contain the improvements in Excel’s systems based on areas identified in the review.
Excel then implemented its improved system, introducing the procedures to all affected employees. The adaption was complemented with the needed assistance to help the employees adjust to the changes in their work processes.
Then followed the internal audit to inspect if the improved system is implemented effectively. The internal review included work process observation, interviews, and records checking. Findings of the internal audit were then presented including the appropriate corrective actions.
SGS, the world’s leading certification company, conducted the certification audit for Excel. Having gone through the audit and addressed the identified non-conformities, SGS awarded Excel Guyana’s IMS Certification. The certificate is valid for three years and surveillance audits will be conducted within that period.
